In an era where AI is dominating blogs and booking platforms, and news sites are resorting to click bait headlines to generate ad revenue, there’s a reduced sphere of authentic travel blogs with real experiences. This is where I come in.

I write about the places I’ve visited, pointing out things I’d recommend doing (or maybe avoiding doing) that I’ve done myself. I’ve a long list of all the places I’ve visited and written a summary of my trip here. I will add to that list as long as I continue to travel.
This blog is more (barely) than recalling my trips, I also occasionally rant about Irish bars, overtourism, or whatever sprang to mind that day. In a similar vein, I can go off on a tangent and write about something tenuously related to travel (for example, Sumo Wrestling). And then I am prone to keep track of the best things I’ve encountered on my travels such as German food, and beer.
This blog was started in 2019 with little vision beyond being a somewhat of a travel diary for myself. As time has passed, I think I’ve found a voice for myself. There’s things out there that pique my attention, such as the Stolperstein memorials and I’ve been pointing them out, and telling others about them since.
Whichicao is essentially about exploring the world beyond the obvious. From football terraces and local pubs to forgotten histories, unusual attractions and food – whether that be a local dish, or a national fast food chain (particularly burgers), I share my experiences of the weird, wonderful and occasionally unexpected things that make travelling worthwhile.
I’m interested in more than where a place is or what it’s famous for. I want to discover what makes it tick: its people, its culture, its history and its peculiarities. Sometimes that means uncovering somewhere extraordinary, and I’ll try to amplify that, for example, the Landschaftspark-Nord park.

This is travel through my own eyes. I give honest experiences, personal opinions and divulge unexpected discoveries. Whichicao is not a definitive guide to everywhere, but an invitation to look a little closer, explore a little further and find something worth remembering.

Whilst travelling is (sadly) not my career, I’ve continued to explore new countries, learn more about the world, and embrace new experiences.
The world is full of weird and wonderful places. I’m here to experience them, attempt to understand them and share the stories and anecdotes that I encounter along the way.
