Palma: August ‘22

Apologies in advance, this is going to be a rather short post. After Cannes we reached the midway point of our cruise, the next stop was Palma, capital of the Balearic island, Mallorca.

Our itinerary for Palma was rather short, we really wanted to try 7 Machos Mexican restaurant as it was recommended to us, however it was closed whilst our ship was docked, so the mystery of how good it is lives on.

The large lake in front of the cathedral had a jet reminding me of Geneva’s Jet D’eau

So we pretty much just checked out the Cathedral, or La Seu as it is known locally. A gothic style cathedral which was finished in the 1600s.

Modern construction meets historical architecture
Getting up close and personal with La Seu
The church grounds are also home to a small garden (where I relished the opportunity to pose)

The church ground is quite mesmerising, taking in the unique architecture and the narrow streets of the old city.

There’s something about these streets that just captures you. I could have wandered around them for hours.

It was nice to catch a few moments reprieve from the sun in the shady narrow streets before finding a bar to enjoy.

I really would have liked more time in Palma (to try Mexican food, craft beer, and explore the nearby castle) alas, the cruise did not allow it. But maybe I’ll be back in the future?

You could say we had a whale of a time
