Whitehead, an Instagrammer’s haven by the sea

Whitehead is an idyllic little seaside town in County Antrim, it’s about a 30 minute drive from Belfast – and also serviced by trains.

It’s a perfect place to spend a Sunny morning/afternoon in away from Belfast itself, stop by get a Caffeine pick-me-up from Coastal Coffee, before snapping a few photos of the coloured houses on Marine Parade.

A long the coast, a little further from the coloured houses is “Blackhead coastal path” which leads to the lighthouse.

Follow along the main pathway until the end and you’ll reach the small lighthouse used to guide boats into Belfast Lough.

There’s a few pathways off the main path leading up to the lighthousekeepers’ houses. I thought these took us to the lighthouse and learned the hard way that it is private property.

The main path takes you to the lighthouse, and back around back onto the main path.

Some of the views from along the path are breathtaking, and you’re likely going to see the Stenna Line ferry zip through Belfast lough on its way to Scotland/Liverpool.

Whitehead is also home to a railway museum which is sadly closed at the moment due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But it’s a good reason for me to come visit this great little town again.
